Varberg by bike

With a bike, you’ll be in town in a flash, or you can go for a ride to Getterön or Läjet. We offer both “ordinary” bikes which you pedal yourself, and new electric bikes that add a bit of battery power to your pedaling in case you’re going on a longer trip. And there are plenty of trips to make!

Electric bike tour

Could you imagine a better way to experience our lovely cultural landscape? You’ll glide pleasantly along, past meadows and fields, and wide open beach meadows. Take in the splendid nature between lakes and sea in a nice, relaxed manner. The tour follows the beach to Läjet, and continues to the Johnsson farm, where those who wish can have a coffee and something sweet to go with it.

The tour lasts for 2-2.5 hours, and anyone over 12 can come along. The batteries of the electric bikes give you a good deal of speed, with a minimum of effort. Tickets subject to availability – read more below.

Out and about

Of course, there’s always the option of being out and about on your own. All our bikes are adult-sized, in a classic unisex model with adjustable seats. No gears. They all have baskets, and we offer helmets if you didn’t bring your own. Child seats provided, subject to availability.

Call ahead or email to reserve bikes before you arrive. Pickup and dropoff at the reception during winter season, and at the minigolf course during summer season.

Rental bikes are available all year round.

Classic bike 100 SEK/6 hours, 180 SEK/day
Electric bike 350 SEK/08:00-20:00

Sign up for the guided electric bike tour no later than 18:00 on the day before. The tours are free – they are included in your stay. 15 participants per tour. If you have your own electric bike, you are welcome to join us, but we ask you to sign up in the same way as the others. If you signed up but cannot go, you must cancel your reservation, to make your booking available to other interested parties.

Participants gather at Nisse’s Bodega at 09.30. Martin will meet you there.

The electric bike tours only take place a few times each year. Dates for 2019 are as follows: April 19th, May 11th, May 31st, June 15th, August 24th and September 7th.

Did you know that the 2018 European cycling trail of the year runs through Apelviken? Between Gothenburg and Helsingborg, or in the opposite direction, the Kattegattleden trail runs along the shore, passes Handlar’n Apelviken, circles Solviken and continues past our Comfort apartments along the promenade toward the Varberg Fortress. If you choose to ride the entire trail, you’ll get a marvellous 390- kilometre trip along the ocean, with a wealth of amazing places to stop; Höganäs, Mölle, Glommen, Åsa. Across open beach meadows, little coastal towns and an abundance of history. The Kattegattleden trail is divided into eight stretches, and if you’re planning to stay overnight in Varberg, what could be better than spending it with us? Stay to take in the sea, the good food and the friendly atmosphere of the bay. Or why not allow yourself two days with us, and spend an entire day exploring the Åkulla beech forests by bike. Magical beauty, both among the fresh spring leaves and the blazing red of autumn.

The Kattegattleden trail is Sweden’s first national bike trail, opened in June, 2015. For more information, please visit the Kattegattleden home page, which provides maps and lists of attractions along the way.
