VARBERG BY FOOT OR BIKE

The feeling is different, more intense when you feel the ground and the wind touch your face. The scents. When you hear the nature around. A somewhat slower pace give you time to discover. So close to the city center you'll end up at the "Strandpromenaden" - it's inevitably. By bike you easily get to Getterön or Läjet. And even if you drive to Åkulla, you for sure would use your shank's pony when there.

EXPERIENCE A DIFFERENT HALLAND

With a bike, you’ll be in town in a flash, or you can go for a ride to Getterön or Läjet. We offer both “ordinary” bikes which you pedal yourself, and new electric bikes that add a bit of battery power to your pedaling in case you’re going on a longer trip. And there are plenty of trips to make!

Hiking in Åkulla

THE FANTASTIC BEACH WOODS

More than fifty square kilometer to hike in. Just where the coastal landscape meets the forests of the hinterland. Lots of paths and  Massor av naturstigar och vandringsleder. Stroll along the medieval Via Regia.

Kattegattleden

EUROPE’S CYCLING TRAIL OF THE YEAR 2018

Did you know that Europe's Cycle Route of the Year 2018 passes right through Apelviken? Running between Gothenburg and Helsingborg — or the other way around — Kattegattleden winds along the shore, past Apelviken Livs, around Solviken and on past the hotel and cottages, along the beach promenade and towards Varberg Fortress. Ride the whole way and you're in for a breathtaking 390 km journey along the coast, with countless wonderful places to stop — Höganäs, Mölle, Glommen, Åsa. Across open coastal meadows, through small seaside villages and layers of history.

Kattegattleden is divided into eight stages, and if you're planning to spend a night in Varberg — what could be better than staying with us? Take a break, soak in the sea, enjoy great food and a wonderful atmosphere in the bay. Or why not give yourself two full days and spend one of them cycling through the Åkulla beech forests. Magical in spring green and autumn gold alike.

Kattegattleden is Sweden's first national cycle route, inaugurated in June 2015. Visit the Kattegattleden website for maps, information and tips on places to explore along the way.
