OCTOBER 23-25 AND OCTOBER 29 - NOVEMBER 1 2026
The autumn holidays offer loads of cosy comforts and community – and a few creepy things, too!
The autumn school holidays, from October 23rd to November 1st, is time to get together. Getting comfy. Bring candles and slippers. Get yourself and the kids a getaway. Some good time with your family. Restaurant Solviken is open. But then there’s that other thing …

If you dare ...
Well, the other thing ... Apelviken dressed in autumn colors, a walk along the dark sea out to Subbe Lighthouse on a November evening is just about as much cozy fright as we can handle. But there are also rumors of a strangely, disturbingly delicious ghost breakfast at Nisses.
But for those who want an especially spooky autumn break, there’s Halloweekend: a package with a a kit to make your apartment, caravan or motorhome terrifyingly scary yourself, a pumpkin workshop, ghost walk, and all sorts of frightful experiences.

Circus Appis
It’s said that once upon a time, a circus stood on this very spot. Long before sun, surf, holidays, and swimming. A circus full of magic, laughter, and pranks. Then suddenly it disappeared. Gone! No one really knows what happened. Even less why. Was it a tragic accident, a violent death, or just a slow fading away that brought it to an end? Someone claims to have heard that a curse rests on this ground… and every year, during Halloweekend, the circus comes back to life. The ringmaster roams the night, searching for new souls to drag into an eternal performance.

Halloweekend is the family weekend of spooky coziness, where of course we scare the living daylights out of parents, siblings, and staff. We don’t go to bed on time and eat far too many sweets. Trick or treat?

And there you might well think that would be enough. That enough was enough. That eeriness, mysteries and darkness had an upper limit after all. Nope.
Out of the mist anno 1847, the merchant ship Aurora glided into Varberg harbour. With it came a chill and an uncanny feeling – as though the darkness had come ashore too. On board was a man who was not like the others. His name was Elias and he had once been an artist. Now he was pale, silent and wrapped in white cloth. In his arms he carried paintings – images and words of something he had seen out at sea. Elias no longer spoke. Instead he walked through the harbour and up towards the town. When people asked what had happened, he did not answer – he merely pointed. What had Elias actually been through?
The man in white & the ship Aurora are this year's autumn half-term mystery at Rys och Mys!
